However the end result is less than impressive when compared to a real wood floor. The top layer of hardwood also known as the hardwood veneer ranges in thickness from 0 5 mm to upwards of 6 mm. Real wood top layer flooring also known as engineered wood flooring offers a more practical surface to solid wood flooring but doesn t compromise on the innovative design and authentic luxurious finish. Laminate is cheaper when bought in bulk though which is a consideration factor. Made up of layers of ply topped with a solid wood lamella or top layer engineered wood flooring is highly resistant to expansion and contraction even when exposed to pretty extreme fluctuations in temperature and moisture.

Made from three different layers including a solid oak top layer this flooring is incredibly hardwearing and stable.
