Treble Bleed Volume Pot

This is done to prevent the tone from becoming too thin in reduced volume settings and augment the tape of the pot.

The volume pot the capacitor and the resistor. Again this little mod works best with single coil pickups. Typical capacitor values are between 001mfd and 003mfd. A treble bleed high pass circuit allows the highs to bleed or pass through the volume pot even as it is turned down.

The hard part is that there are three values to consider. Here s how easily this is. If we weigh the negligible cost and effort of installing a treble bleed against the potentially prodigious payoff a volume pot capacitor looks to be a very smart investment indeed particularly for tube amp aficionados. Each one of the values affects the other and the result is entirely dependent on your personal tastes.

By adding the resistor in parallel a small amount of all frequencies are allowed to bypass the volume pot along with the high frequencies that bled through the capacitor. So heads up strat and tele slingers. Wire this simple mod between the input and output lugs of your guitar volume control pot to smooth out treble bleed.

Get more uniform tone from 1 to 10 and a more rounded sound at low volume.
